Botched Drug Deal Leaves One Dead in Orangevale

An Orangevale drug deal gone wrong has left one person dead and three suspects at large, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's report.

According to deputies, four men met with the three male suspects at an Orangevale gas station to buy marijuana on Aug. 20. The suspects followed the four men back to a home on the 5700 block of Haskell Avenue, when two of the suspects pulled out a handgun and began shooting inside the residence, according to the report.

During the melee, one of the four men was shot in the back and later pronounced deceased at the scene. According to the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, the death is being ruled a homicide.

The victims could not identify the vehicle the suspects fled in, said Sheriff's spokesman Robert Davis.

The male suspects are described as African American, between the ages of 19 and 32.
