Justin Ho, age 18, Wins $1,000 Kohl's Cares Scholarship

The Kohl’s Department StoresKohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program honors nearly 200 deserving volunteers with $1,000 scholarships toward higher education. Justin Ho, age 18, from Sacramento was chosen from more than 35,000 nominees nationwide for making a positive impact in his community. Through the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, Kohl's is encouraging promising youth to further their education at a time when college costs continue to rise and parents are relying heavily on federal and private student loans to fund higher education.*

With a passion for sustainability, Justin used a $40,000 grant to cut his school’s energy costs by encouraging teachers to use more sunlight in the classroom, implementing a recycling program and adding a drip irrigation system to conserve water.
