Missing Fair Oaks Man May Have Been Spotted in Petaluma Area

34-year-old Jason Kyles may have been seen on Lakeville Highway at Hwy. 116. His family will continue to search for him.

The family of missing Fair Oaks man Jason Kyles says they've received a tip that he may have been in the Petaluma area on Sunday night, miles from Annadel State Park, where he was originally thought to have gone missing.

His family said he was depressed.

"He has been acting strangely recently and we believe that he's experiencing some sort of manic state," his stepson Josh Davis told Patch.

Up to 300 professionals, family and volunteers searched the park for six days before the search was suspended late Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. A hiker is believed to have spotted Kyles in the park naked and chanting.

On Sunday night, someone reported a "tall, skinny, naked man running on Lakeville Highway," said Davis. Kyles' father, Jim, told Patch it was near Highway 116.

Kyles' sister, Denise, said a woman and her daughter spotted someone who may have been her brother and that Kyles' family asked her to make an official report to the Sheriff's Department.

Kyles' family said he stopped taking his medical marijuana before disappearing Saturday.

Denise said she'd like people to know that her brother has never had a breakdown before and that he has run a business and "had a good life." She said he may suffer from some type of Bipolar Disorder, though there hasn't been an official diagnosis.

"He will need immediate medical attention when he's found, because of the cold temperatures he's endured at night," she said. "He will already be scared enough because he won't understand what's happened to him."

The family has set up an email address for tips: findjasonkyles@gmail.com

Search and rescue teams from Sonoma, Marin, Alameda and Contra Costa counties have searched throughout the county for Kyles, focusing on Lake Ilsanjo and the Warren Richardson and Canyon trails.

Kyles is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes and was wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans, black and orange shoes and a heavy, tan canvas jacket when he disappeared. He hasn't shaved in about three weeks and is likely to have a reddish beard, his father said.

Denise said the family believes he would have found clothes by now and that he could be heading back to Annadel State Park to get his truck or that he could be trying to find his way back to his home in the Fair Oaks area near Sacramento.

About 20 family members are in Sonoma County looking for him.

"We have office space that was donated to us as a headquarters," Denise said. "Some family are here answering phones. Others are out handing out flyers at shelters and soup kitchens—anywhere where there are people."

Anyone with information about him is asked to call the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office at (707) 565-2650.
