Share Your Memories of the Now-Demolished Carmichael Park Pool

The Carmichael Recreation and Park District demolished the leaky, out-of-code pool this year.

A 60-year-old pool in Carmichael will soon be nothing more than a patch of grass.

The Carmichael Park Pool, which has been unused since 2004, was demolished earlier this year, according to the Arden-Carmichael News.

Carmichael Recreation and Park District Administrator Jack Harrison told that newspaper the pool was leaking and not up to codes or disability requirements.

"Everything was wrong with it," Harrison told the Arden-Carmichael News. "It would have been cheaper to build an entire new building.”

Replacing the pool would cost between $2.5 million and $6 million, according to the district.

In the decades it entertained and cooled local residents, more than 1 million people swam there and 100,000 kids took lessons in the pool, the district said.
