A Cute Story About Carmichael Seniors Learning Sign Language

You're never too old to pick up a new skill or hobby.

A group of Carmichael seniors between the ages of 79-98 have been meeting every Wednesday for the last month at Carmichael Oaks to learn sign language.

Their story was highlighted in Valley Community Newspapers this week. The class is taught by 82-year-old Ginger White, who is deaf.

One of the students, Lola Chan, 86, told Valley Community Newspapers "she used some of the signs over Thanksgiving."

Hard of hearing, Chan uses a caption phone and looks forward to practicing her skills more often. She spends some of her time watching sign language videos on the Internet to help practice.
