2 Carmichael Schools Have New Principals for New School Year

Meet the new principals of Cameron Ranch Elementary and John Barrett Middle schools.

Two Carmichael schools will have new leaders for the 2013-14 school year.

At Cameron Ranch Elementary, Mirna Pelayo-Colson took on her new role as principal effective July 29. She took over for former principal Theresa Altieri, who retired recently.

Pelayo-Colson began teaching sixth grade in the San Juan Unified School District in 2001. From there she became a language specialist at Jonas Salk High-Tech Academy until 2008, when she became vice principal at Greer Elementary School according to the district. She also served as vice principal at Thomas Edison Language Institute, a Spanish/English immersion school.
