Chamber Honors O'Neal as Carmichael Person of the Year

Three others also recognized as Veteran, Patriots of the Year.

Four Carmichael-area leaders were honored Friday night at the annual dinner.

"This is such an honor," O'Neal said. "Carmichael has grown so much and it's such an asset to Sacramento County."

She said she attended , took her driver's license test at the Carmichael and has sung at the El Dorado Saloon.

Earl "Ranger Jack" Koobs, who taught at the now-closed La Sierra High School, was honored as Veteran of the Year.

"It's a real pleasure to be here tonight," Koobs said.

Lola and Jim Warrick were chosen as Patriots of the Year for their work organizing the annual , which turned 53 years old this year, among the oldest 4th parades in the country, chamber officials said.

"We all make Carmichael what it is... and we celebrate our country with the parade... which brings commerce to the area," Jim Warrick said. "I'm proud to be associated with the chamber."

Carmichael photographer and writer Susan Skinner led the crowd in singing The Carmichael Song.
