Sacramento Kings institution and announcer Jerry Reynolds will receive the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce supreme award when it names him the 2013 Person of the Year on Jan. 11, 2013.
The Chamber will honor the former Carmichael resident along with two others during its awards dinner.
"We try to pick someone who has been a positive impact on the community," said Chamber executive director Linda Melody.
Melody said Reynolds was picked for his presence in the community, participating in community service along with his time participating in Chamber events like guest speaking.
"The choice was unanimous," Melody said.
The Chamber will also honor Mercy San Juan Medical Center President Brian Ivie, Carmichael Recreation & Park District Administrator Jack Harrison and singer and photojournalist Susan Maxwell Skinner.
Melody said each would receive a plaque - maybe a trophy. Melody also noted community members will have a chance to speak about the honorees. One of those speakers will be newly elected District 8 Assemblyman Ken Cooley.
The event also acts as the Chamber's largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds benefiting children and in-need families, Melody said. Proceeds will go to Bev's Angel Project, a charity created by Chamber member and Carmichael local Jan Strickland of Beverly's Fabrics.
