Village Farmers Market Moves to Drier Grounds for the Winter

Don't worry; the Village Market has not left Fair Oaks.

For anyone worried the Fair Oaks Village Farmers Market had abandoned the community, fear not; it has just moved to a larger venue about 1,600 feet away.

The Wednesday market has moved to the Scandinavian Designs parking lot at 4301 Sunrise Boulevard, just for the winter, said Don Hall, founder of BeMoneySmartUSA and coordinator for the weekly market.

Moving the market to the parking lot accomodates more parking and potentially a few more vendors, said Hall. The market, which moved two weeks ago, could have been moved to California Street, but ran the risk of disrupting business for other local vendors, Hall said.

"We had the street closure permits," Hall said. "It would have run from 1:30 p.m. till close, but out of courtesy to the other businesses we just decided to move it to Scandinavian Designs."

With the additional room, parking will be easier for customers and Hall is looking at filling a couple of extra spaces for holiday shoppers.

"We'll be adding some extra crafters for the holidays, nothing retail," Hall said.

Hall believes once the weather warms up again, the market will return to Fair Oaks Village, potentially sometime in April.

In the meantime, expect to find the same farmers market atmosphere, at the same time on Wednesday (3 p.m. till 7 p.m.), just in a new location, every week. That is till the weather gets warm again.

I, too, miss the history quiz of a mystery location. Please bring it back.

I am curious as to why it is vacant and fenced off.

*gasp!!* Tacky chain link fence? There go the property values! Chain link fence aroundRead More vacant/undeveloped land is usually an indicator of some County ordinance to secure the land for public safety. I'd buy the land and for the pure entertainment factor put mock working oil pump jacks on the land. Just to see what people do. :-p

Thanks for the kind words Josh and for doing a good job of taking over Carmichael among other PatchRead More towns. I'll always remember promoting Patch around the area and the weird looks we/you got out at the multi-chamber mixer. Best of luck in Alaska and say hi to the eskimos for me.
