Visions for Vacancies: 7423 Fair Oaks Blvd.

What should replace the former video rental and Halloween store on Fair Oaks Boulevard? Tell us in a comment.

Drive around Carmichael and you'll notice far too many empty storefronts and buildings.

We've already showcased some and each week, we'll show you another as part of Patch's series.

This week, we ask you what should go in at the building at 7423 Fair Oaks Blvd. (where it meets Manzanita Avenue), which has been home to a video rental store and a ?

A performing arts studio? A sports shop? Something else?

We want to hear what kinds of businesses you think should open up in Carmichael. Tell us in a comment below.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Station. Carmichael needs a larger law enforcement presence. The neighborhood is just not as safe, as it used to be. Quality businesses and residential investors will turn away, unless Carmichael can be cleaned up. Otherwise, we'll end up with more pawn shops, check cashing stores, "tobacco" shops, massage parlors, and liquor stores.

I agree, when I moved here seven years ago, things were much different. Now, they are understaffed and cases get overlooked, or pushed aside, take for example trafficking, SACRAMENTO is in the top five in the U.S. with a large part of the district just a ramp or two away starting at Watt & Roseville Road being a large district known for prostitution and drug trafficking. Any police upgrade would be welcome.
