Editor Victor Calderon Leaving Fair Oaks-Carmichael Patch

Before October 2010, my knowledge of Carmichael was limited.

I had attended on the southern end of town from 1996 to 2000. And, unfortunately, I hadn't ventured much past for track practice and the former Taco Bell on Fair Oaks Boulevard (now ).

When I was hired for Patch in the Sacramento area about two years ago, I looked at the communities where Patch was looking to launch and I chose the town of my alma mater.

Since we launched Carmichael Patch in December 2010, I have enjoyed meeting Carmichael residents and community leaders. We just but it's also a time of change for me.

I will be leaving Fair Oaks-Carmichael Patch at the end of this week and moving to Tucson, Ariz. where my girlfriend has started law school at the University of Arizona.

I'm confident, however, that Josh Staab will do a great job covering Carmichael and Fair Oaks news. Carmichael readers, please introduce yourself to him in person or at joshua.staab@patch.com and share your news on the site. Thank you for letting me get to know the community.

I have enjoyed covering community events, like the and with the . I have enjoyed covering ongoing news like the . I am proud of the community spirit and togetherness Carmichael residents have, whether it be in happy times such as the annual or sad times such as the .

I want to thank some people whom have made my Carmichael Patch experience fun and rewarding.

Thanks to my parents, sister, brother-in-law, family, girlfriend and friends for following me on Patch and even attending some of the Carmichael events.

Thanks to my fellow Patch editors with whom I've worked closely- Alex Gronke, who started out as my first regional editor, assistant regional editor Felicia Mello (the former editor for Elk Grove Patch), Cody Kitaura in Elk Grove (formerly Rosemont), Justin Cox in Davis () and Lauren Gibbs in Roseville () and Josh, whom I worked with to launch Citrus Heights Patch last week. Thanks to all the men and women at Patch who work to cover news at the local level.

My fellow editors and reporters have been a great group of journalists to work with and I have learned much from them.

Thanks to my alma mater Jesuit High School, especially ; principal Brianna Latko; ; director of communications Jordan Blair, athletic director Chris Fahey, , , and teachers Tom McGuire and Thomas Shakely for helping me reconnect to the great Jesuit community. It has been a pleasure to cover the academic, campus ministry and athletics news coming from 1200 Jacob Lane.
