Grab and Go Kids Planner for Friday, Feb. 25 – Friday, March 4

Check out these fun, low or no-priced family events in and around Carmichael.

Kids' imaginations are constantly “on,” and in need of stimulation. From toddlers to teens, and those in between, here is a compilation of free and low-cost events happening in and around Carmichael this week. There's a free screening of “Tron Legacy,” a family game day at the local library and DNA-themed weekend at the Discovery Museum.

Where/When: Carmichael Library, 5605 Marconi Ave., Sunday, 2-4 p.m.

Why Go: Give your kids an opportunity to play and interact with others in a fun, safe environment. The library supplies the games – board, card and even Wii games – and attendees are welcome to bring snacks. All ages welcome.

2. 'Tron Legacy' Movie Screening

Why Go: See an adventure/science fiction movie for free with your family and explore the Sacramento State University campus in the same outing.

3. Discover and Create DNA

Why Go: Help celebrate the 1953 discovery of DNA by watching demonstrations, displays and enjoying hands-on activities. Kids can even make a DNA molecule to take home and keep their minds active.

Children 4-12: $4

Children 0-3: Free

4. Sleepytime Pajama Storytime

Where/When: Central Library, 828 I Street,Thursday, 7-7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Get all cozy in your favorite PJ's, grab your favorite blanket or stuffed toy and enjoy stories and songs. Children of all ages are welcome to the free event.

Pricing: Free, parking at metered spaces is free after 6 p.m.

5. Go to the Drive-In
