Rise and Shine: What's Happening 6/21

New fire chief swearing-in, beaver walk and Reiki Meetup Group.

It's heating up outside and certainly feels like summer now. Here are some . With that in mind, here are three events happing this evening in and near Carmichael. They are either indoors or along the American River.

1. The fourth fire chief in the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s history will be sworn in tonight at 6 p.m. at the St. Francis High School Theatre located at 5900 Elvas Ave. in Sacramento.  Sac Metro Fire officials are expecting hundreds of people to attend the swearing-in and promotion ceremony for Fire Chief Kurt Henke.

2. Nothing says summer like a good old evening . Join leader Jack Hiehle as he leads you on a tour to spot beavers, the "nocturnal engineers." Call the for additional information and reservations. These tours are limited to 15 people each and best for ages 10 and up, so sign up as soon as possible.
