Week in Review, April 9: Local Business, Federal Investigation, Track and Field, Baseball, More

A look back on the week ending April 9.

It was a busy week for Fair Oaks Patch. With so much news happening in the community this week, it may have been easy to miss one or two stories. That’s where the Week in Review for April 3 – 9 can come in handy.

  1. – The news of local financial advisor and former Chamber President, Thomas Hammond, being investigated on charges of unlawful investing of clients’ money has left some community members wondering exactly what to believe as details are still being gathered following a search warrant issued for Hammond on March 31.
  2. – Columnist Dante Frattini examines the possibility of Fair Oaks Village holding its own Second Saturday event and what potential hindrances may be holding up such an event from gaining traction.
  3. – Neighbors of the nearby Schweitzer Grove Nature Area have been debating over the closure of the area’s disc golf course, with fervent opinions on both sides of the topic.
  4. – In Fair Oaks Patch’s newest feature, we take a look at local businesses hiring, including one local online news website.
  5. – For Bella Vista seniors and varsity soccer players, Chelsea Lewandowski and Madeline Easterbrook there won’t be much time off as the two prepare to travel to California State University, Stanislaus for four more years of soccer at a whole new level.
  6. – Public forums have ended, though the discussion continues on the best way to redefine public school attendance areas for the San Juan Unified School District.
  7. – Fair Oaks’ staple café has been attracting steady, loyal and quirky clientele for more than five years under current direction from owner, Linda Stiles.
  8. – A Sacramento court has deemed accusations of elder abuse following the death of one patient warrants a trial.
  9. – Be sure to check out the highlights from the second Capital Valley Conference Track & Field meet at Oakmont High School.
  10. – The Del Campo varsity baseball team fell short against Christian Brother, 3-2.
