Week in Review, Aug. 13: Detector Dog, Memorial Fundraiser, More

A look back at the week ending Aug. 13.

It was quite a week for news in Fair Oaks. This week we featured stories on fraudulent prescription drug users, Sunday fundraisers and community memorials. Before the weekend is over, check out all the news that made headlines for the week ending Aug. 13.

  1.  - Had your fill of fun on the river? Buy, sell your rafting items at this event in Lotus.
  2.  - The weekly list of available job positions in the area.
  3.  - Three defendants entered pleas Wednesday for producing fraudulent prescriptions at a local pharmacy.
  4.  - Meet Roxie, the Sacramento County detector dog that inspects shipping facilities for unmarked fruit and plants.
  5.  - It is now state law for students entering grades 7 through 12 to show proof of vaccination against whooping cough.
  6.  - A basketball tournament fundraiser is being held on Sunday in honor of Crystal and Victor Rodriguez.
  7.  - Locals strummed their favorite classics and shared some of their own music at Fair Oaks Coffee House Thursday night.
  8.  - We got outside and spoke with mothers who will be sending their kids back to school in coming weeks.
  9.  - A service for Crystal Rodriguez, who was killed in a parasailing accident in the Bahamas, is scheduled for Monday.
  10.  - Bella Vista High School students no longer have to wait in line for class schedules.
