Week in Review, Aug. 27: Cannabis Crackdown, Family Reunion, Football Season Opener

A look at the week ending Aug. 27.

It goes without saying most weeks in Fair Oaks can be described as busy, but for some that term is relative. This week, however, one would be hard-pressed to argue there wasn't a whole lot going on. The new school year began for most of the young Fair Oaksians, Sacramento County officials were hard at workd deliberating on a number of issues impacting the area while many others proceeded through the week dealing with the routine responsibilities they face day-in and day-out. For those who are just now getting a chance to catch up, here's a look at some of those stories for the week ending Aug. 27.

  1.  - While Sacramento County continues to develop permanent zoning ordinances and business permits for local medical marijuana dispensaries, it will also serve those businesses daily fines ranging from $500 to $1,000 for illegal operation.
  2.  - Cara Benson is up for a supporting actress award in school production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
  3.  - A local man is set to answer for a backyard break-in in Yuba City.
  4.  - After an 8-3 record and a trip to the playoffs, Del Campo is hoping to win its third-consecutive division title with only 14 seniors on the team.
  5.  - Raymond Peters was returned home by his non-custodial mother after she violated her visitation rights by more than two extra days. For more details, check this .
  6.  - Sacramento's Best of Broadway will close the Fair Oaks Theatre Under The Stars season beginning in September.
  7.  - Congressman Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) addressed a crowd of as many as 350, many to question and protest the senator at La Sierra Community Center.
  8.  - A Nov. 1 deadline for Sacramento County supervisorial redistricting could shuffle Fair Oaks into a new district.
  9.  - Taro Arai, co-owner and operator of Mikuni Sushi shares his success story.
  10.  - Though there is room for improvement, Del Campo's varsity football home opener also confirms reasons to be excited.

That's not all either. Be sure to check out the full list of Fair Oaks news to catch up on everything that happened this week.
