Week in Review, July 16: Potter Mania, Wayward Bees, Field of Dreams, More

A look back on the week ending July 16.

It has been ... an interesting summer so far, to say the least. Cooler temperatures, high river levels and the conclusion of a movie series that has captivated audiences for a decade, and we're only midway through July. Those getting away for a little outdoor activity or just returning to the area may be interested to see some of the news they missed for the week ending July 16.

  1.  - There are still quite a few events to look forward to happening around town.
  2.  - So there's this little movie about this boy wizard, maybe you've heard of it.
  3.  - A Fair Oaks home left vacant for some time continues to host a number of pesky, unwelcome guests.
  4.  - A 60 percent rate increase isn't sitting well with many disgruntled Netflix customers.
  5.  - Budgeted finances to redesign Del Campo High School's stadium are there, fundraising for the project may be another story.
  6.  - Fair Oaks Harry Potter fans check in with their favorite characters.
  7.  - What is being described by police officers as a random act of crime has left one Fair Oaks teen the victim of a robbery and a beating. The stolen property is being valued at $2,700.
  8.  - Senate Bill 48 requires public instruction in social sciences to include role and contributions of lesbian, gay, bi and transexual Americans, as well as people with disbilities and other cultural groups. Where do you weigh in on this newly passed law?
