Week in Review, July 30: Eppie's Great Race, District Proposal, More

A look back on the week ending July 30.

It's been a productive week for news in Fair Oaks with a lot going on around town. If you missed some of our stories last week, take this time to get caught up on all the local news affecting your community:

  1.  - Fair Oaks local and Eppie's Great Race Iron Woman competitor, Joilynn Hollingsworth shares her thoughts on the race and plans for next year's event.
  2.  -Parents and school faculty from local high school develop plans to fund sports programs through various fundraising techniques.
  3.  - The San Juan Water District use solar energy in an attempt to lower costs.
  4.  - Japanese beetles have been spotted living in Fair Oaks and officials worry more may be in the area.
  5.  - With more than 180 high schools in the CIF, District II division, developing high school sports play schedules is not an easy task.
  6.  - Plans for a Sacramento County urgency zoning ordinance for local marijuana dispensaries have been cancelled in lieu of developing a permanent ordinance instead.
  7.  - A final Assembly District proposal sees Fair Oaks' district relocating into Placer County.
  8.  - Bob Irvin shares his experiences working with the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival.
  9.  - Crews from around Sacramento finally begin the process of removing hundreds of thousands of bees from one Fair Oaks home.
  10.  - The New Christy Minstrels stay true to a sound they created 50 years ago.
