Carmichael student organized a 9/11 memorial to be placed in Sacramento's Cesar Chavez Park for three weeks around the Sept. 11 holiday.

Just prior to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, , then a Staff Sgt. with the First Helicopter Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base, had just launched Air Force One. It was during those initial early-morning routine squadron launches, the Master Sgt., now an ROTC instructor at Del Campo High School, saw his first ominous glimpses of the first jet flying into the northern façade of the north tower.

Sept. 12

Even some schools that are traditionally prolific fundraisers, however, are finding it more difficult to attract donations than in previous years.

Sept. 13

A third candidate entered the race for honorary mayor of Carmichael before Thursday's deadline, the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce  announced. The newest applicant to join the race is Dan Kellow, a personal banker at in Carmichael. Kellow joins of SMUD and of Wagner Plumbing.

Also, the Rio Americano team has had to battle through injuries this season that have left five of the team's dozen players on the sidelines.

Sept. 14

The future of in Carmichael, long debated, has received a vote of support from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. Board members on Wednesday unanimously voted in favor of Alternate plan B regarding the . By a 5-0 vote, supervisors voted to approve that the corridor plan, which looks at redeveloping the boulevard, be adopted as a community planning level document.

Also, the team may be undefeated this season and ranked No. 1 in two national polls but the Marauders know that other teams are gunning for them.

And in our , Labor Day proved to be a bummer of a holiday for two Carmichael residents spending the day away from home in different cities.

Sept. 15

The El Camino team has been rolling along early in the season and a key win last weekend appears to signal they may be ready to take the next step this season.

And the average listing price for a home in Carmichael is currently about $334,000, according to Trulia. But 's not your typical suburban abode: It's got an asking price of $2.3 million.
