What's happening in and near Carmichael through Sunday.

It's the last weekend before students go back to Carmichael schools. Here's what's happening in and near Carmichael this weekend.

1. Hey, teens: Take a break from the end of summer vacation and spend an hour in the cool atmosphere of the at 3:30 p.m. today playing with your friends.

2. Put your green thumb to good use and meet some nice people while you're planting from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at . Enjoy complimentary refreshments and feel good about helping to beautify the community. According to the Carmichael Rec and Parks website, all gardeners are required to work 10 hours per plot on activities for the good of the entire garden. You can set your own hours if the weekend dates do not work with your schedule. Talk with Elizabeth Crisante, Recreation Supervisor, to discuss this option, at (916) 483-7826.

3. Come on out and get your at 9:30 a.m. at ! Enjoy a fun-filled work out led by Sara Zurita and get ready to move your body to the music.  As Shakira says, "Hips Don't Lie!"

4. Come one! Come All! The Barony of Thor's Refuge invites all ages to come out and enjoy the game of Amtgard. Amtgard is a boffer style game (LARP) that uses padded medieval SAFE weapons and magic for combat and fun. Noon-4 p.m.

5. Come and meet the new on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. There will be a bounce house, arts & crafts, and a small reception.

6. Got two left feet? Come to the from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by dancing from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.—great fun and exercise. Come alone or bring a friend or significant other; everyone is welcome.

7. 6:30 p.m. Carmichael Park. Free.
