Rotary at Work: 'It's My Park Day'

The Fair Oaks Rotary was out in force yesterday working along side of other volunteers at Phoenix Park as part of The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District's It's My Park Day.

One of the most common questions we get is what is Rotary? It is a hard question to answer, because Rotary does so many things based on the needs of the community and the interests of the volunteers. I've always found that examples are easier to understand than goals, and yesterday is a great example as over 15 local members showed up to help paint and weed Phoenix Park as part of It's My Park Day. The bathrooms, bleachers and tables all have a fresh coat of paint and the common areas are once again (mostly) free of weeds and litter.

While it feels good to give back to the community through these types of efforts, its probably the friendships that develop within Rotary that keep us coming back.

Yes, you can really see what we did at Pheonix Park, and we had a great time together AND accomplished a lot. Thank you, Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District, for planning a great opportunity for service and feeding us well!

We DID accomplish a lot on Saturday, and it was a treat to work with my fellow Rotarians as well as others from the Fair Oaks community. What a well organized event, and thank you, Keith, for posting this!
