Carmichael Church Helps Husband of Terminally Ill Fair Oaks Woman

Carmichael Seventh-Day Adventist Church assisting couple who will live in foreclosed Fair Oaks home until woman's death.

A Carmichael church is assisting a Fair Oaks couple who are members as the woman battles a terminal illness while living in their foreclosed home.
Carmichael Seventh-Day Adventist Church is assisting Luther Findley as his wife Claire, 59, is in the late stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, which requires 24-hour care, a Sacramento Bee article reported.
The Findleys lost their Fair Oaks house to foreclosure in March because Luther, a 55-year-old contractor, hasn't worked since the end of 2007 and because of Claire's medical bills, The Bee reported.
Meanwhile, Carmichael Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where the Findleys are members, has been assisting Luther Findley to get ready for when his wife passes on.
"We've got a really strong support group with them, which will help when Luther will need to leave his home," said Keith Jacobson, the church's lead pastor. "We've been helping him arrange his things in finding a new place so when Claire dies, he won't have to worry about what comes next."
