Carmichael Patch is One Year Old- What's Next?

Happy birthday Carmichael Patch!

Carmichael.patch.com, your daily online newspaper for everything in Carmichael, turns one year old on Saturday and it's been a great first year getting to tell the community's stories.

In the weeks leading up to our Dec. 17, 2010 launch, myself and a group of writers went around Carmichael getting to know community leaders and business owners and introducing ourselves.

Prior to moving to Carmichael, I had graduated from but unfortunately, as I had grown up in West Sacramento, did not know Carmichael beyond the restaurants around Fair Oaks Boulevard and Arden Way. I am glad I have gotten to know many of you and only want to know more about this wonderful community.

I have always wanted to reflect all of Carmichael's residents, from long-time homeowners to recent arrivals. I want Carmichael Patch to continue to foster a dialogue among residents, where all voices are heard and represented.

This news site could not be what it is without the contributions of the amazing writers, photographers, bloggers and videographers I have had the privilege to meet and work with.

I am also thankful to Alex Gronke, Patch's regional editor in the Sacramento area, along with my fellow editors in Rosemont, Fair Oaks, Elk Grove (which have been celebrating the one-year mark recently) and our newer sites in Davis and Roseville. Please check in on those sites from time to time to see the great reporting our friends in those communities are doing.

I should also thank my family and friends for allowing me to spend time out on the job.

In order to best serve Carmichael residents, I need your help. Take our poll below or post a comment on this and other articles telling me how we are doing and what I should be covering in year two. Please and share your photos along with our coverage.

There are tons of things happening around the area every day and I need to know what you want to read about.

Or if there's a specific story you want me to follow up on, let me know. As always, you can contact me with any specific feedback at 916-505-7200 or victor.calderon@patch.com.

Please know that this will be the best site for you to find complete, daily coverage of major issues such as the or as well as breaking news, crime, local government, school news, the arts, youth sports and business news.

If you'll go back in time with me to the day Carmichael Patch launched, I believe you'll enjoy this introducing you to the site.

Here's to a great second year, continuing to tell your stories and reflect the amazing residents of Carmichael.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Andrew, I'm always looking to get more news out on entertainment and arts from groups like the Chautauqua Playhouse and the two recreation and parks districts. Please let me know of any other groups.

It would be good to anticipate developments in terms of local, county, and state legislature that could be of special significance to Carmichael, be it beneficial or detrimental.
