Firefighters Extinguish Carmichael Garage Blaze

The fire was reported Thursday night in Carmichael.

A garage fire in Carmichael was snuffed out by firefighters Thursday night, authorities say.

The fire was reported around 11 p.m. on Sandstone Street, near Madison Avenue and Dewey Drive.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said in a press release.

"Aggressive firefighting activities kept the fire from progressing to neighboring homes and saved the homeowner roughly $100,000 in structural damages," the press release stated. "There were no injuries to citizens or fire personnel."
