Firefighters Extinguish Fire Inside Angelina Avenue Home

No injuries reported.

Firefighters extinguished a home fire this afternoon at 5724 Angelina Avenue that began in the home's attic and caused significant damage.

Sacramento Meotropolitan Fire District crews responded shortly after 4 p.m. to the one-alarm fire west of Fair Oaks Boulevard and found a well-involved fire, said Batallion Chief Jeff Metzinger. A family inside the home noticed smoke coming through the ceiling and was able to get out.

No injuries were reported, Metzinger said.

Crews were able to contain the fire by about 4:30 p.m. but a combination of plaster, chicken wire and sheet rock made work more difficult for them, he said.

As of this evening, no cause had been determined. An investigator was on the scene.
