Metro Fire Gets a Cool New Training Tool

You won't believe where the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District took delivery of its newest training tool.

FedEx was looking for a final home for a Boeing 727 jet.  The California Fire and Rescue Training Authority was looking for an old plane for its Regional Training Center in Rancho Cordova.

The private firm and the public safety agency found each other and the jet was delivered to Mather Field.

To allow for real-life training, FedEx Express has selected Metro Fire to receive their generous donation of a Retired Boeing 727. The aircraft will land at Mather Airpark on June 14th and later be moved to California Fire and Rescue Training Authority’s Regional Training Center in Rancho Cordova. The 727 will be making its final flight from Texas and is expected to land at 9:25am. Metro Fire is hosting a press conference to share the benefits that this unique resource will provide to the region. Multiple agencies from a variety of disciplines now have the ability to train locally in a real aircraft.
