Police: Thief Takes Off With Ashes of Woman's Husband, Cat in Granite Bay Break-in

A reward is now being offered in the case.

The following is a press release from the Placer County Sheriff's Department: 


Placer County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the burglar who stole the ashes of a Granite Bay woman’s husband.

 

The woman, who does not want to be identified, left her home on Long Meadow Road to run errands on the afternoon of Oct. 31. When she returned, she discovered that two urns – one with her husband’s ashes and one with her cat’s ashes – had been stolen from her home. The thief also took jewelry.

Detectives said the woman is distraught over the loss of the ashes and would like them returned.

Anyone with information and who wishes to remain anonymous is urged to call Placer County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-923-8191 or report a tip online at www.placercrimestoppers.org. All Crime Stoppers information remains anonymous. If the tip results in an arrest, the caller can earn up to a $1,000 reward. Anyone with information on this case can also call Placer County Sheriff’s Detective Dan Meier at (916) 652-2411.
