Sheriff's deputies stopped a man from jumping off the roof of a four-story Carmichael parking garage Monday, officials say.
A 59-year-old man called Sacramento County Sheriff's officials around 1:30 a.m. Monday saying he was on the roof of the Mercy San Juan Medical Center, and was thinking about jumping, according to a press release.
The sheriff's communications center kept the man on the phone while deputies responded to the scene. When they arrived, deputies found the man sitting on the roof of the garage with his feet dangling over the edge.
"While a patrol deputy engaged the man from below, the other deputies quietly approached him from the rear and pulled him off the ledge to safety," the press release states.
The man, who was not injured, was admitted to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
