American River Donor Plaza Opens Sunday

A ribbon cutting will take place to celebrate the plaza's opening.

The wait for the new  is finally over, and the community will celebrate with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

After more than five years of planning, construction of the plaza is finally complete. The Donor Plaza Committee (DPC) raised $1.3 million to purchase the land, and an additional $40,000 to construct it.

The walkway is laid with 350 bricks, many engraved with donor names. The celebration of the 30 square-foot plaza, located at the end of Bridge Street near the Old Fair Oaks Bridge, will officially commemorate the park and honor all the parties who helped make the plaza come to life.

Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters will also be attending the celebration.

“The Donor Plaza is a wonderful asset to the Fair Oaks Community and I encourage everyone to take a moment during this wonderful spring weather to enjoy the bluffs and learn about the history of Fair Oaks,” Peters wrote on her Facebook page.
