Fair Oaks Blvd. Corridor Plan To Get $4 Million Grant

Supervisor Peters makes announcement at chamber luncheon.

The , which would help revitalize the main thoroughfare in Carmichael, will receive a $4 million grant, Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters announced today at a Carmichael Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The grant is expected to be approved by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments in the next week.

The plan, which was approved last month by the county board of supervisors, addresses the concerns of residents and business owners who wish to make the boulevard more aesthetically pleasing and accessible to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

Peters said supervisors adopted the chamber's recommendation and that the special planning area would focus on giving the boulevard a Main Street feel.

"Carmichael is positioned as the economy changes to get new businesses on Fair Oaks Boulevard," she said.

Chamber officials said the grant is much needed.

"That $4 million is a huge thing," said chamber president Chris Meyer. "Hopefully, it will attract more businesses and it will certainly help with the beautification of the area."
