Village Streetscape Project Gets Green Light

Project to enhance ADA access will soon go out to bid, while construction is slated to start in August.

The recently got the green light from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, and construction will likely start this summer.

The board approved the project, which supporters say will make the area more pedestrian friendly, May 22. It's being funded by a $513,000 grant from the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and will make the Village more ADA compliant, widen some sidewalks, narrow the road, and add crosswalks and a one-way street.

The project will soon be put out to bid, said Greg Vincent, chairman of the Fair Oaks Village Enhancement Committee.

One of the more noticable changes will include the triangle area, where Fair Oaks Blvd meets Winding Way. A one-way street will be added, along with two more parking spots. A pedestrian walkway, decorative streetlights, widened curbs, gutters and sidewalks for ADA compliance will also be added to the area.

Construction is set to start around August, Vincent said.
