Redistricting Plans May Not Affect Carmichael

A new set of supervisorial redistricting proposals make their way through the decision-making process.

As the Nov. 1 supervisory deadline approaches, Sacramento County officials have at least nine separate proposals to choose from.

Well, technically, now they have 10, said Sacramento County spokesperson, Alice Jarboe.

On Thursday, Sacramento County officials requested one particular redistricting proposal plan be returned with further modifications. It was the only proposal to be asked to do so, Jarboe said.

Areas like Elk Grove and Carmichael are largely unaffected by any of the 10 proposals being bandied through the county.

Proposal ES1e, like the majority of the 10 proposals, would relocate Fair Oaks into District 3, under the supervision of Representative Susan Peters. ES1e's counterpart, ES1e-Draft 4, would reflect those changes, as well as transfer some area of District 5, around the Rancho Murieta area, into District 4.

Areas like Rosemont could also be impacted by the proposed district changes, but the likelihood remains unknown at this point. Still, proposals such as ES1-e, EP4 and ES1 all show various ways in which Rosemont could be relocated into either District 4 or District 5 respectively.

If the Board of Supervisors is unable to make a Nov. 1 decision, the responsibilities will then fall to other Sac County representatives, including the County District Attorney's Office, Sheriff's Department and Sacramento County Assessor's Office, Jarboe said.
