Sacramento County Looks for New Head Lawyer

County Counsel Robert Ryan, Jr., is retiring.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will meet behind closed doors this week to interview candidates for the county's top law position.

Current Sacramento County Counsel Robert Ryan, Jr., plans to retire in June after 25 years of county service, his last 18 years spent as counsel, the Sacramento Business Journal reported in January.

The board will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. Friday to interview potential replacements.

The county counsel gives legal advice to the county, and prosecutes and defends several kinds of civil lawsuits when the county is involved, according to the county's website.
