Streetscape Project Celebration Set for March 1

A celebration has been scheduled for the completion of the Fair Oaks Village Streetscape Project's first phase.

The Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento County Department of Transportation have planned a celebration to commemorate the completion of The Village Streetscape Project's first phase and they're inviting the whole town out for some fun.

The celebration is planned to take place at Plaza Park on Fair Oaks Blvd. on Friday, March 1, beginning at 10 a.m. to commemorate the completion of the first phase of the streetscape plan for The Village.

The celebration will include an appearance by County Supervisor Susan Peters, members of SacDOT and the Fair Oaks Village Enhancement Committee [FOVEC] as well as a ribbon-cutting event celebration.

The first of three phases, this first phase was the product of a partnership between SacDOT and the FOVEC. The project is described as designing a “complete street” along the portion of Fair Oaks Boulevard that runs through the Village with sidewalks, new pedestrian curb extensions at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Bridge Street, a mid-block crossing, enhanced bike routes, added decorative street lighting, and landscape amenities, according to a SacDOT press release.

Construction for the project began shortly after the Chicken Festival in September, 2012.
