As the NorCal Champions, 's Science Olympiad Team traveled to University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida to compete in the Science Olympiad Nationals tournament this past weekend, May 19-20 and won 4th place overall in the nation.
The team competed against 59 other middle schools from across the U.S., all representing the best (or two) from each state. The team was led by Mr. Jungk and Mr. Sherriff as Head Coaches, as well as Mr. Darrow and Ms. Hollenbeck as Assistant Coaches.
In an impressive performance, Churchill won Top-6 medals in 11 events, including winning 1st place golds in 3 events: Keep the Heat, Rocks & Minerals, and Write-It-Do-It. As there are 23 events scored, it takes every team members' performances to score well overall as a team.

; this year returning for the second time, the team exceeded its goals by winning 11 medals (goal was 7), 3 Golds (goal was 1), and placing 4th overall (goal was 6th).
In the High School Division, represented NorCal and placed 10th in the nation, winning three medals.
At this time, the Science Olympiad Team would like to thank the many generous donors, sponsors and team fundraiser supporters who helped make this trip to Nationals possible for the team! The team also thanks the many parent coaches and community-at-large coaches, as well as to all the parents for their support throughout the season.
