Del Campo, Casa Roble Yearbook Staff Awarded in New York

Students took home Silver Crown honors presented by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

The 2011 yearbook staff at Del Campo and Casa Roble high schools were honored this month by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, which doles out the country’s top awards for student publications.

Del Campo’s Decamhian and Casa Roble’s Rampages each won the CSPA’s Silver Crown honor. Del Campo sent four students (pictured left) – two from last year’s yearbook staff and two from this year’s – to the March 16 awards ceremony at Columbia University in New York.

Del Campo Principal Vera Vaccaro and longtime yearbook advisor Jim Jordan accompanied the students on the trip. Jordan said the cross-country trek also provided some unique sight-seeing opportunities – including a trip to Ellis Island, where Vaccaro and students spotted the name of the principal’s father among the 700,000 names on the American Immigrant Wall of Honor.
