Del Campo Softball's Season Ends As Runners-Up in Section

Cougars lose in bottom of 7th to Woodcreek.

's most successful softball season in school history ended Wednesday as the Cougars finished as CIF Sac-Joaquin Section runners-up in Division II.

Del Campo, needing to beat of Roseville twice to take the section title, was close to forcing a second game, with Cougars junior pitcher Megan Wantz having shut down the Timberwolves through six innings. Rebecca Mueller and Morgan Green, both seniors, had given Del Campo a 2-0 lead on a single and a double, respectively.

But in the bottom of the seventh, Woodcreek sophomore Jenna Curtan hit a two-run single to tie it up before junior Christal Vierra got the game-winning RBI for the 3-2 win at the Sacramento Softball Complex.
