El Camino Student-Athletes Honored During School's First-Ever Signing Ceremony

Students, parents and staff joined together to honor Eagles athletes who will play at collegiate level.

Fourteen El Camino student-athletes signed letters of intent to play at the collegiate level in the Carmichael-area school's first-ever signing ceremony.

"Thank you for representing El Camino so well," athletic director Cici Robinson told the group, before they signed their letters and posed for photos.

The Eagles' athletic program is coming off of a successful year, with a and .

"It was really exciting to sign with (schoolmates) because this is something one shares with not that many people and I'm proud it's El Camino's first signing day," said , who will play volleyball at Pepperdine in Malibu along with club teammate Gabriella Palmieri of St. Francis. "I liked the smallness of the school and the fact thay Gabby signed with them too.

Fellow Eagles volleyball players signing Tuesday were Talia Kaczmarek with Roosevelt University in Chicago and Nicole Hareland at American River College.

Joey Thompson, a catcher on the baseball team, will play at Concordia University in Irvine.

"It's an honor to be recognized; I know we've all been working hard," Thompson said. "I was out at dinner with my coach and I looked up Concordia and decided that's where I wanted to go."
