Students from took third place in the annual National Science Bowl held in Washington D.C. on Monday, officials announced.
The defending champions, and 2009 and finished second in 2010.

The members of the Mira Loma team are Saaket Agrawal, Siddharth Trehan, Rohan Deshpande, Sharath Reddy and Jacky Fu. The coach is James Hill.
With its third place finish, the Mira Loma team won $1,000 for the school's science department, News 10 reported. There were 69 high schools in the competition.

The team from Lexington High School in Lexington, Mass., was awarded first place, edging out North Hollywood High School from Southern California, News 10 reported.
