MLB: Two Jesuit Baseball Alums Drafted

Agosta to Giants, Green to Phillies.

Two former players were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday.

Martin Agosta, a pitcher at St. Mary's College in Moraga, was drafted in the second round by the San Francisco Giants. He'll join fellow Jesuit alum Andrew Susac, who was selected by the Giants last year and is now with their minor league team in San Jose.

Zach Green, a shortstop, was taken in the third round by the Philadelphia Phillies. .

"Blessed to be picked by a great organization like the Philadelphia Phillies," Green tweeted. "I appreciate the opportunity. And of course thank you to all Friends and family who have helped me get here today. Truly couldn't have done it without you guys. Life is good."

Agosta, Green and Susac join other Carmichael-area players in pro baseball, including Pittsburgh's Derrek Lee of El Camino and Tampa Bay's J.P. Howell of Jesuit.
