Sheriff's Department: Barrett Middle School Student Followed Home by Unknown Man

A San Juan Unified safe schools safety alert went out to Carmichael parents Wednesday.

Wednesday evening a Fair Oaks-Carmichael Patch reader sent in this e-mail. The information comes from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Crime Prevention Specialist, Sherrie Carhart.

In the notice, Carhart alerts recipients of a 13-year-old John Barrett Middle School student followed by an unknown man in a black GMC Sierra. Below is the complete notice from Carhart:

Date and time: Oct. 2, 2:40 p.m.

Location of Incident:

Barrett Road to Lincoln Avenue and Schweitzer Elementary School area.

Type of incident: Suspicious activity

Synopsis of Incident:

A 13-year-old male Barrett student reported a man followed him in a vehicle as he was on his way home from school yesterday, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at approximately 2:40 p.m. There were no reports that the man made any comments to the student, and eventually drove off. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded and checked the area.

Suspect Information:

Caucasian male adult in his 50’s, with gray hair, black glasses, and a dog in the back of his vehicle.

Suspect Vehicle:

Black Sierra GMC, with scratches on it. No license plate number obtained.
