Teacher Appreciation Week: Who's Your Favorite Teacher?

We all have a favorite teacher, a person who changed our lives with encouragement, sound advice or a kind word.

For me, it was Carolyn Cimino at the since-closed Evergreen Elementary School in West Sacramento. She encouraged my passion for reading and creative writing that led to my finding a career as a journalist.

I can also thank several teachers of mine at : , the late and , among others. Those teachers fostered my interests in world history, Spanish and political science, respectively.
