'Carmichael Dave' Let Go From 1140 The Fan

Rio Americano HS alum led fans' fight to keep Kings in Sacramento.

, a sports radio personality who led the grassroots movement to keep the Kings in Sacramento, announced on Twitter Wednesday that he was let go from 1140 The Fan.

"As (of) today I am no longer a part of CBS Radio," Weiglein, a graduate, wrote on Twitter. "I'll expand later. To each and every person that has put up with my voice, I love you."

Weiglein had worked on "The Don Geronimo show" on KHTK and was part of the fan movement that included the Here We Stay group. Ultimately, an agreement for a new ended after the Maloof family that owned the team pulled out of talks, though they have said they want to keep the team in Sacramento.

Friends and colleagues took to Twitter to send well wishes to Carmichael Dave.

"I am disappointed beyond words about @CarmichaelDave not being with us anymore," Kings broadcaster Grant Napear wrote on Twitter. "What a shame and what a HUGE loss for 1140 The Fan!!!"
