USA Today Interviewed a Unicycling Expert From Carmichael (For a Story about College Basketball)

His nickname is the Uni-Cyclone, and he claims Carmichael as his hometown.

Did you know that Carmichael is home to the former president of the Unicycling Society of America? It's true.

His real name is John Foss, but he goes by "The Uni-Cyclone." He's 51-years old and his talents are on display in the video on the right.

It’s a bit quirky that he was the single source used in a USA Today story that ran Monday before the NCAA Basketball National Championship Game between Michigan and Louisville, but here’s the connection:

“He and the breakout star of the NCAA tournament, Michigan freshman center Mitch McGary, are expert unicyclists,” according to David Leon Moore’s USA Today piece, which examines the sports training benefits.

Foss, who isn’t a basketball fan, says he’s not surprised that McGary is doing so well in the tournament: "Unicycling is something that would help anyone become more agile and graceful, whether it's a big guy or any guy."

McGary scored six points in Michigan’s loss to Louisville Monday night. Check out the USA Today story to hear Foss dive deeper into the benefits of unicycling.

But make sure you watch the video above first, which is titled, "John Foss: The Uni-Cyclone!"
