A Mission Oaks 'Thanksgiving' Feast

Center hosted Nov. 16 luncheon for seniors.

Tap dancing, a Thanksgiving feast, pie and getting to know the people in your community - what more can you ask for in an afternoon?

On Nov. 16, the hosted an early Thanksgiving luncheon for 200 guests from throughout Carmichael. For the past four years, this tradition has been an opportunity to reach out to seniors with families who don’t live in the area.

“Mission Oaks is such a family, friendly, community oriented place,” said Pat Sieberg, the center's marketing specialist. “It’s a place where people can find a second home.”

The success of the lunch resulted from both the efforts of the community and the charity of its members. Thanks to the catering of , the feast was plenty and the bellies were full. This local bar and grill is known for specializing in warm, home-cooked meals.

Once the lunch was complete, the guests were able to enjoy the pies donated by . The charity did not stop there. Entertainment was provided by the Mission Oaks Rhythm and Shoes tap dancing group and door prizes were donated by several local businesses.

Due to the high amount of donation, the event was provided for the low price of only $5.

Now comes the time for round two. With Thanksgiving here, Carmichael is bound to be full of turkeys, families and the continuing spirit of gratitude and charity.
