It's very important for Officer Lizz Dutton and the CHP to do a thorough investigation, before people leap to conclusions. Why? Because two adults lost their lives and four children lost a parent. Evidently, a lot of accidents occur at that intersection! Many questions still remain to be answered. Was there was any impairment of vehicle operators? (Were breath or blood or field sobriety tests performed on all the drivers? Was there any texting by the vehicle operators? Were the brakes and lights, and other systems, on the ~20 year old Corolla or ~8 year old motorcycle functioning properly? Were there any event data recorders that can be examined for evidence?) One thing is very clear from national accident data, people need to be aware of, and share the road with, motorcycles to prevent these tragedies from happening.
