Dusty is my brother in law, and truly one of the kindest, down to earth individuals I have had to…Read More pleasure of knowing. It is my hope that he receives this well deserved recognition as he has given back so much to his hometown.

Truly, the participants should boycott the race over this asinine backpack ban. I'm not a runner,…Read More but I would do so if I had previously had plans to attend this event.
But I already boycott doing any business in SF over the unconstitutional red light cameras and the OUTRAGEOUS fines that they have imposed for these pernicious, non-human devices so I guess this is just another reason to not visit SF.

I'd love it (except I a low elevation, creek and hill girl)!! I think we'd all benefit from making…Read More individual choices like this, we've strayed away from self expression in this society of strip malls and franchises. I dare say, we'd all be much happier if we catered to our true selves.
Bravo, Mike! And even to the douchery that presented it-- at least they gave it three minutes of their "precious" time. It's a start.

Why would anyone like Mike be concerned with socializing when the world is full of douchbags like…Read More the 2 reporting this story. Its probably one of the main reasons he, and many like him, choose to live a more simple life, secluded life. Power to him!

Maybe they should concentrate on why the streets are falling apart and not being paved, why the…Read More parks aren't being taken care of why Rosemont Plaza is empty, why they are allowing the school district to close community schools, and a thousand other serious issues in the County instead of wasting time on developing a resoltuion whether or not a basketball team stays in the city. Guess I was wrong and all the serious issues have been taken care of.

Actually, Trisha, you are wrong about the title. This article is posted on multiple Patch pages. I'm…Read More looking at it under the Banning-Beaumont Patch. I also assume that when Peter posted, the article DID have a channel #, which was removed after his post. It wasn't rude, it was simply pointing out a discrepancy in the article, which was then corrected. Thanks, Peter, for pointing that out to the editors.
Trisha Bowler February 3, 2013 at 01:46 pm
I re read the above article and didn't see a channel number. All I saw was CBS. Don't know where…Read More you live but the title of this page is called "Diamond Bar-Walnut" Patch and here CBS is located on Channel 2. You were rude to the editor!

I won't miss the Kings a bit. Seattle will love them. Blanket advertising will take care of that.…Read More With increased ticket prices, parking, the cost of a beer a couple cokes and nachos, a mid-income guy with a couple boys can no longer afford attend a game. Buying a Kings Jersey? Forget it, it's as much as a tank of gas.

Thanks for that comment, j braun. I think the data definitely shows how NBA interest in Seattle has…Read More changed sine the Sonics left (7.5 percent average from 2000-2007, 8.9 percent in 04-05).
I'm curious, how do you feel about the way this back and forth between Seattle and Sacramento has been playing out so far? I haven't heard much from Seattle residents on it.

There's still a chance. Here's hoping for the best for our SACRAMENTO Kings.

What a jerk. It is not microsoft putting up the money it is Ballmer! Why did he let the Maloofs…Read More screw the city so bad with idiot mentality. Those guys are living off the fathers genius and they did nothing but obliterate his reputation. Let them go. They have the lowest value of any of the NBA teams.Good by to Cousin's crying. He never was and never will be!!!

It looks like the sale of the controlling equity in the Kings is consummated and binding. That…Read More means if the Johnson group wants to buy the controlling interest in the Kings, they would have to buy it from the Hansen group. We have to remember that the NBA could treat the sale and the request to move the franchise as two separate transactions. A better strategy would probably be to help Mr. Stern and the NBA out by allowing the sale and movement of the franchise in exchange for an immediate expansion franchise for Sacramento. That would probably cost a lot less and would leave money for contracts for new management and players and some left over to help build a new arena. Seattle would be the owners of the current Kings management and player contracts which I think are over valued. We must remember that the Maloof's increased the payroll by, I think, about $10 million this year, and I am not sure that bought much. I think an expansion franchise with new management and players may help fill the arena, which the current team and management does not.
Robert Livesay January 19, 2013 at 02:03 pm
Sure does produce a lot of revenue and with that comes sales tax dollars. Not bad
John January 15, 2013 at 06:12 pm
It was said that if Seattle lost it's NBA team that they too would never get on again? Here we are a…Read More few short years later and they are in the running to buy the Kings? Have they built a new arena? does it rain less in Seattle than it did before? Absolutely not! So why then should we as Sacramentans believe that an ownership group (even the city itself much like Green Bay) couldn't put together a deal to attract another team to our city? We must remember that the Malloof's purchased this team wiuth the notion that they could one day move it to Las Vegas! Thats why the NBA held the All Star game there a while back. First time in the history of the NBA that the All Star game was held in a city that did not have an NBA franchise! We need to remember and not let this EVER happen again. Oh we will either keep this team or get another one but we must never be hoodwinked again!
Dennis Chandler January 15, 2013 at 02:31 pm
The Maloff's are nothing but liars and no class!!!! After all the years of support they don't even…Read More have the character or honesty to allow investors from Sacramento to buy the Kings!!! They are doing this just to spite the Sacramento fans and city!!!!! If someone doubled the price, the Maloff's out of hate would still sell to Seattle!!!!!

When I see Major League Baseball, the NFL, the AFL, the NBA, the NHL and the NCAA publish and…Read More enforce a real drug policy, I will believe someone has become serious about this issue. In the meantime I see a lot of posturing and worthless statements but little to no action. If we want to see our kids idolize people who use and condone the use of drugs, that is what we have now. It’s a sad commentary on what we have grown to accept.

PJM, this is a free enterprise system and as far as I know, no US laws have been broken. The real…Read More issue here is as I and now others have mentioned, want the youth of our country following the lead of these players who have chosen to play outside the lines of the game. I only use the NFL seemed like and I still think it is as did MLB in the recent HOF voting results begin setting the bar for future players. I do not care if one has more legal liability than the other. One good example might be the labeling of cigarette packaging with the warning health labels..... now do you see, it really doesn't matter how it happens, just as the Surgeon General's warning is to try to prevent smoking and inherent damage that may occur, but it also in a sense allows the tobacco companies some if very limited liability from Suites of the legal variety. It's all good in my book, but not the use of Steroids in MLB!

The Kings need to stay, the Maloofs need to move on. Please sign the online petition.

Does this mean we won't have to listen to any more about the Maloof brothers? Good riddance. Where's…Read More the loyalty to the fans? Are we still on to receive a soccer team? That could be fun and different.
Mark Paxson January 10, 2013 at 12:34 am
If they do sell to the Seattle group, it will be the final thumb in the eye of Sacramento. A…Read More billionaire was willing to buy the team with the intent of keeping them in Sacramento. He probably would have been fine with the downtown arena plan the Maloofs torpedoed. But, the Maloofs won't sell to him. They won't sell to somebody interested in keeping the team here. They will sell to somebody who will move the team elsewhere. They've never liked Sacramento, always thinking they are better, more classier than Sacramento is. Odd thing is, once they sell the Kings, they will have virtually nothing left other than the trust funds their daddy set up for them.
